Army chief attends EME Corps annual commanders' conference, reunion
Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman on Monday attended the two-day Annual Commanders' Conference-2026 and the 6th reunion of the Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (EME) Corps of Bangladesh Army at EME Centre and School in Saidpur Cantonment, Nilphamari.
Addressing the commanders of EME Corps units and other officers as the chief guest, the Army chief paid rich tribute to EME Corps members who made supreme sacrifices during the Liberation War and to all freedom fighters, said an ISPR release on Monday afternoon.
He highlighted the EME Corps' glorious tradition and its important contributions to the repair and maintenance of the Army's weapons, vehicles and equipment during wartime and peacetime.
The Army chief also exchanged views with participants on various issues related to the corps' activities, development and professional skills. He directed its members to remain prepared to face the challenges of the 21st century through modern and updated training.
Later, he attended the 6th EME Corps reunion at the parade ground of EME Centre and School and witnessed the colourful reunion parade.
He underscored the importance of such reunions in strengthening unity, goodwill and professional camaraderie among members of the corps.
General Waker-Uz-Zaman also called upon all concerned to remain dedicated to serving the country and its people.
Senior military officials, commanders of EME Corps units, serving and retired officers and personnel from different ranks attended the programmes, the ISPR release added.
