AG urges journalists to highlight people's access to justice
Attorney General Md Ruhul Quddus Kazal has urged journalists to highlight not only negative news but also stories of speedy disposal of cases and people getting justice.
"If you notice any irregularities, misconduct or corruption in the Supreme Court arena, you will bring them before the nation through objective journalism," he said while addressing the second founding anniversary of the Supreme Court Reporters' Forum (SRF).
The Attorney General said, "After I assumed office, you (journalists) responsibly published several reports on various court-related issues, and we have benefited from those reports."
Urging journalists to play an important role while ensuring that the entire institution does not suffer because of a vicious circle or one or two individuals, the Attorney General said thousands of cases have recently been disposed of in both the Appellate Division and the High Court Division of the Supreme Court following the initiatives of the Chief Justice.
"You have highlighted those developments before the nation with due importance," he said.
Supreme Court Registrar General Mohammad Habibur Rahman Siddiquee, SRF President Mohammad Didarul Alam, General Secretary Mehedi Hasan Dalim and other members of the forum were present at the function, among others.
Earlier, a colourful rally was brought out marking the day. The rally paraded through the Supreme Court premises.
