Franchises finalize coaching panel for D3 trophy

The six franchises of the Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) newly-introduced Domestic Three (D3) Trophy have finalized their coaching panels on Tuesday by appointing a group of experienced former national cricketers and established domestic coaches.

The D3 Trophy is a new domestic competition that combines three formats-- four-day first-class cricket, 50-over cricket and T20-- under the same franchise.

The initiative is aimed at giving domestic cricket a more integrated and professional structure.

Sohel Islam has been appointed head coach of H Bluestar while former national team captain Rajin Saleh will take charge of ACME.

Mizanur Rahman Babul will serve as head coach of Citizens Bank. Experienced coach Mohammad Salahuddin, however, takes charge of the Fortune.

Former national pacer Talha Zubair has been named head coach of Seven Rings Cement while former Bangladesh spinner Abdur Razzak will lead Walton.

The franchises have also completed their support staff with former national cricketers and familiar figures from the domestic circuit joining as assistant coaches.

Walton's coaching panel includes Tushar Imran and Dollar Mahmud. Seven Rings Cement have brought in Hannan Sarkar and Humayun Kabir Shahin.

Former Bangladesh captain Mohammad Ashraful and Abdul Qayyum Jewel will work as assistant coaches at Fortune. H Bluestar have appointed Salauddin Ahmed Ujjal and Ashiq Majumder.

Nazmul Hossain and Mohammad Selim will serve as assistant coaches for Citizens Bank while ACME have named Tarek Aziz Khan and Faisal Hossain Dickens in the same roles.

The appointments were completed following the franchise finalization and icon-player draft, with the teams subsequently selecting their support staff through a management draft.

The D3 Trophy brings together competitions that were previously organised separately, including the four-day and 50-over editions of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) and the T20 competition of the National Cricket League (NCL).

The BCB has also entered into three-year agreements with the participating corporate franchises as part of the new structure.
