Preparation meeting held for 32nd Chattogram International Trade Fair

Preparation meeting held for 32nd Chattogram International Trade Fair

The 32nd Chattogram International Trade Fair, organised by the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), will be turned into a truly international trade fair rather than remaining international in name only. All necessary initiatives will be taken to ensure greater participation of foreign companies as well as leading domestic industrial enterprises and to provide them with opportunities to showcase their products.

Chamber former president and adviser to the CITF-2026 Committee Amir Humayun Mahmud Chowdhury made the remarks while providing overall guidance at a preparatory meeting for the 32nd Chattogram International Trade Fair-2026 held at the seminar hall of the World Trade Centre on Tuesday.

Chamber director and chairman of the CITF-2026 Committee S. M. Saiful Alam presided over the meeting.

Amir Humayun Mahmud Chowdhury said the tentative opening date of the 32nd Chattogram International Trade Fair has been set for November 20, 2026, and the fair will continue for a month. A total of 215 stalls, including 20 pavilions, will be set up at the fair.

He said communications are being maintained with the embassies of different countries to ensure the participation of foreign companies. Necessary initiatives are also being taken to organise this year's Chattogram International Trade Fair in a more attractive, aesthetically pleasing and secure manner, following the model of the Dhaka International Trade Fair.

He further said the Chittagong Chamber has been organising the international trade fair at the Polo Ground for the past 31 years. After a gap of two years, the Chamber has made all necessary preparations to organise the fair again. Permission to hold the fair has also been obtained from the railway authorities.

One of the key objectives of this year's fair is to promote business and trade, strengthen contacts between domestic and foreign companies, and create opportunities for consumers to see new products and services.

CITF-2026 Committee Chairman S. M. Saiful Alam said people used to wait throughout the year for the Chittagong Chamber's trade fair.

At one point, the fair became one of the major sources of entertainment and a popular meeting place for city residents.

“We hope the fair will once again be held in a festive and colourful atmosphere,” he said.

He added that, alongside turning the Chattogram International Trade Fair into a meeting place for businessmen and consumers, initiatives would also be taken to showcase the activities of various business organisations to the general public. To this end, 8–10 business organisations in Chattogram will be encouraged to set up stalls at the fair.

Among those present at the meeting were Chamber Senior Vice-President Md Amzad Hossain Chowdhury; fair committee co-chairman and Chamber director Aman Ullah Al Sagir (Bhutta); Abu Haider Chowdhury (Amzad); Chamber directors and committee members Asad Iftekhar, A. S. M. Ismail Khan, Mohammad Nurul Islam, Sarwar Alam Khan, Shahidul Alam, Mohammad Shafiul Alam (Badsha) and Md Selim Noor; and Asian Apparels Ltd Director Wasif Ahmed Salam.
