The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Wednesday announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming Australia tour with Nigar Sultana Joty continuing as the captain of the side.
Joty has recently stepped down from the T20 captaincy but expressed her desire to continue leading the ODI side.
BCB has appointed David Hemp as the Head Coach of the Women's National Team for the coming two years.
Hemp, 55, will begin his two-year stint with the national women's team when he joins the squad in Brisbane for the upcoming ODI tour of Australia, the BCB confirmed in a press release.
His tenure will run until September 2028.
Hemp replaces Sarwar Imran, who had been serving as the National Women's Team Head Coach since February 2025.
"The appointment gives Hemp an opportunity to work with the Bangladesh Women's team again, having previously served as the batting coach during the ICC Women's ODI World Cup Qualifier in Pakistan in 2025 and the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier in Nepal earlier this year," the BCB said in a statement.
Hemp has been part of the BCB coaching structure since May 2023, when he took charge as the Head Coach of the High Performance (HP) programme.
He was also assigned as the National Men's Team's batting coach in 2024. Prior to that appointment, he had been a part of the men's team's coaching staff during the tour of New Zealand in 2023.
Hemp has previously worked extensively in women's cricket. He was Head Coach of the Pakistan Women's National Team from 2020 to 2022 and also served as Head Coach of Victoria State Women's Team and the Melbourne Stars in the Women's Big Bash League.
Bangladesh will play three ODIs against the hosts in what will be the first ever bilateral series between the two teams to be held in Australia. All of the matches of the tour will be held at Allan Border Field in Brisbane.
The Bangladesh side will leave for Australia on October 3.
After arriving in Brisbane, they will play a warm-up game against Queensland on October 6. The three ODIs are scheduled for October 9, 11 and 14. The Women's team will depart the country on October 15.
