4 remanded over youth assault    in Bangla Motor

A court in Dhakaon Friday granted varying remand terms to four people linked to the Bangla Motor incident where a youth was struck and blank shots were fired.

The court granted four-day's remand to the main accused, Ferdous Ahmed Saimon, and three days each to Omar, 32, Morshed, 25, and Md. Shawon, 25.

Metropolitan Magistrate IsratJahan passed the remand orders as police produced the four before the court seeking seven-day remand for each.

According to the case statement, the complainant Md. Sohan was allegedly asked for extortion money by the main accused Ferdous Ahmed Saimon,in the New Eskaton area on Thursday, BSS reports.

When Sohan refused to pay, Saimon allegedly pointed a pistol at him and struck him with the butt of the weapon.

While Sohan was on his way to a pharmacy for medical treatment, the accused allegedly attacked him again and fired three blank rounds.

At that point, local residents chased and detained Saimon before handing him over to police. 

Sohan subsequently filed a case with Hatirjheel Police Station in connection with the incident.
