Bangladesh has reported another death from dengue, taking the total toll in the official count to 250 this year.
Another 1,163 hospital admissions from the Aedes mosquito-borne disease have been logged in the latest 24-hour count, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The health directorate bulletin said on Friday that 80 patients were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka North City Corporation and 45 in Dhaka South during the period, bdnews24 reports.
Outside the two city corporations, 295 patients were admitted in other hospitals across Dhaka Division.
In addition, Chattogram recorded 333 new admissions, while Barishal reported 151, Khulna 111, Mymensingh 77, and Rangpur 71.
A total of 1,163 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals in the past 24-hour window. So far this year, 82,761 people have been hospitalised with dengue, while 76,862 have recovered and been discharged.
September has seen the highest monthly toll this year, with 43,774 hospitalisations and 148 deaths recorded, official figures show.
The health directorate has kept records of dengue hospitalisations and deaths since 2000.
The highest number of hospitalisations was recorded in 2023, when 321,179 people were admitted and 1,705 died from the disease.
More than 400 people died from dengue last year, while around 102,000 cases were recorded.
