National Productivity Day observed in Rangpur

The National Productivity Day 2026 was observed in Rangpur city on Friday with a call for integrating skills and technology to boost productivity for national advancement.

The district administration organised a discussion at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room to mark the occasion with Deputy Commissioner Israt Jahan in the chair.

In her address, she said the government is providing various forms of support and guidance to help entrepreneurs resolve existing challenges related to enhancing productivity, product marketing and sales.

Additionally, various organisations are working to assist entrepreneurs.

Regarding micro-credit, Israt Jahan said that several institutions provide financial and technical assistance to micro, small, and medium-sized entrepreneurs, with the Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) playing a leading role in this regard.

Urging entrepreneurs to take advantage of government training programmes designed to enhance skills, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the existence of various government technical training centers.

"These centers offer opportunities for vocational and technical training, including driving courses," she said, emphasizing that the youth need to identify these opportunities and utilize them effectively.

Addressing the issues of trade licenses and taxes, she said trade licenses must be renewed annually.

"While this renewal process may cause some temporary inconvenience, a long- term perspective reveals that we all benefit in various ways from the tax revenue collected through these renewals," the Deputy Commissioner continued.

The government also provides subsidies in various sectors.

Mentioning initiatives to organize fairs for marketing entrepreneurs' products, she said, "Despite certain limitations, we are considering organizing another fair."

During the meeting, participating entrepreneurs highlighted various challenges, including issues related to production, marketing, and access to credit.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Romiz Alam, Deputy General Manager of BSCIC Rangpur Md Ehesanul Hoque, Rangpur Chamber Director Partho Bose, among others addressed the discussion.

Government officials, representatives from various organisations, entrepreneurs and journalists were present at the event.
