An alleged robber was arrested with a sharp weapon at the Motijheel Metro Rail Station in the capital after Ansar members launched an immediate operation when they spotted him intimidating a female passenger.
The incident took place at the station’s Entry-A gate, where the suspect was allegedly pulling at a female passenger’s bag. While threatening the woman in front of a lift, the incident came to the attention of Ansar member Md. Rakibul Islam, who was on patrol duty at the station.
Rakibul Islam, accompanied by APC Rokonuzzaman and Ansar member Shaheen Mia, immediately took action and conducted an operation at the scene. Their swift response led to the arrest of the suspect, identified as Zakir Hossain, red-handed.
A subsequent body search of the suspect resulted in the recovery of a large sharp knife, which was seized by the Ansar members.
Following the arrest, the matter was promptly reported to the controller of Motijheel Metro Rail Station. Later, in the presence of the station controller, the Ansar members handed over the detained suspect, along with the seized weapon, to the MRT Police.
The prompt and courageous intervention by the Ansar personnel at one of the capital’s busiest metro rail stations reportedly helped prevent a potentially serious crime.
The female passenger who was allegedly targeted, along with other commuters present at the station, expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the Ansar members for their timely and brave action.
