Upazila/Thana Ansar Advanced Training Begins Under Shahid President Ziaur Rahman’s People’s Warfare Doctrine
A 28-day “Upazila/Thana Ansar Advanced Training-2026” began on October 4 at two Ansar Battalion training centres under the Armed Forces Division (AFD)’s pilot project titled “Training of Forces Under People’s Warfare Doctrine.” The initiative is part of the government’s efforts to implement its electoral manifesto.
In the first phase of the pilot project, the training is being conducted at Shafipur Ansar Battalion (27 Battalion) in Gazipur and Patuakhali Ansar Battalion (31 Battalion). A total of 200 members who have completed basic Upazila/Thana Ansar training are participating in this phase. The training programme will be expanded to eight more Ansar battalions shortly.
The training programme has been planned at the initiative of Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud, Director General of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Force, with the aim of enhancing the capabilities of volunteer members of Upazila/Thana Ansar companies. One of the key objectives of the initiative is to develop a trained, skilled and crisis-responsive manpower capable of serving the country when needed.
Under the supervision of the respective battalion commanders and with overall guidance from the AFD, experienced and skilled instructors from the Bangladesh Army and Bangladesh Navy are conducting the training.
As part of the programme, participants are receiving practical instruction on the fundamentals of firing, basic principles of aiming and firearm safety. They are also being provided with theoretical and practical training on infantry fundamentals, the organisational structure of an infantry company, and battlefield self-protection techniques, including the use of camouflage, concealment and cover.
The training programme is primarily aimed at enhancing the military knowledge, skills and capabilities of Upazila/Thana Ansar members in line with the People’s Warfare Doctrine, enabling them to remain prepared to perform their duties during any crisis or emergency situation in the country.
