A three-day international training programme aimed at promoting a culture of responsible chemistry practices among young people in educational institutions, laboratories and industries across Asia began in Dhaka on Tuesday.
The "International Training and Education Programme on Peaceful Use of Chemistry for Youth-2026" is being jointly organised and implemented by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and the Bangladesh National Authority, Chemical Weapons Convention (BNACWC).
The programme began at Hotel Radisson Blu, Dhaka, today and will continue until October 8, said an ISPR press release on Tuesday evening.
Held under the direct supervision of the Armed Forces Division (AFD), the training programme is being attended by 17 participants from Bangladesh and seven other Asian countries, along with five local and international trainers.
The programme aims to promote a culture of responsible scientific practices in universities, laboratories and the chemical industry across the world, the ISPR said.
Commandant of the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) Major General Md Hakimuzzaman attended the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest.
Participants and trainers from home and abroad, as well as senior officials of the AFD, were present at the event, the ISPR added.
