Police have arrested NaimuzzamanBhuiyanMukta, a former Member of Parliament from the Panchagarh-1 constituency and vice president of the Panchagarh district unit of the now-banned Awami League.
PanchagarhSadar Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Ashish Kumar Shil confirmed the information on Tuesday morning.
He said Mukta was arrested from his residence in the Kazipara Milan Bazar area of Dhakkamara Union under PanchagarhSadarUpazila in the morning. He was produced before the Panchagarh court at around 8:30 a.m. Meanwhile, security measures were tightened throughout the court premises.
He further said that 12 cases have been filed against NaimuzzamanMukta, including a case over the abduction and murder of Al Amin, an e-rickshaw driver in Panchagarh, during the July uprising, as well as cases involving vandalism and arson at a BNP office.
