'Four new books set for students in Class 4, 6 in 2027'

Education Minister EhsanulHoqueMilonhas said that students in Class 4 and Class 6 will receive four new textbooks under the revised national curriculum starting from the 2027 academic year.

He came up with the announcement while replying to queries from reporters after inaugurating the 53rd National Summer Sports Competition at the BhashaShoinikShaheedDhirendranathDatta Stadium in Cumilla on Thursday morning.

He said four new subjects would be introduced for Class 6 students, while the curriculum would be revised and updated from 2028 based on emerging needs.

Speaking as a special guest at the event, Prime Minister's Adviser Mahdi Amin said the ongoing war in the Middle East had pushed up international prices of gas and fuel oil, affecting Bangladesh as well. 

However, diesel prices in Bangladesh remain comparatively lower than in neighbouring and other surrounding countries, he said.

 He said Bangladesh was providing higher subsidies on fuel than other countries in an effort to keep prices affordable. 

The government is making every effort to address the crisis caused by the global situation, he added.Housing and Public Works Minister ZakariaTaher and Cumilla-10 constituency lawmaker MdMobasherAlamBhuiyan were also present, among others.

Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Bangladesh, Dhaka, Prof. Dr. Khan Moinuddin Al Mahmud Sohel chaired the event. 

Students from schools, madrasas and technical education institutions under various education boards across Bangladesh are participating in the 53rd Summer National Sports Competition.
