Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain Bokul has said that, at least 17 radiotherapy machines to be brought to the country with a view to expand cancer treatment services. He made the remarks at the ministry concerned conference room on Wednesday while briefing with the journalists.
He further said that, out of the 17 new radiotherapy machines, six will be installed in Dhaka and rest 11 outside of Dhaka. As a result cancer patients will get extreme facilities through getting medical services at low cost in their respective areas as well as patients pressure towards will be reduced. At the same time, initiatives have been taken to introduce robotic surgery opportunities in the country. However we have a plan to bring five out of the ten robotic surgery machines by this year, he added.
Health Minister however elaborately came up and mentioned again that, the year -long family planning campaign program will run across the country from December one of this year to November 30 of 2027. Moreover, field level publicity, birth control materials as well as necessary advice will be delivered door to door through this program, he added again.
Replying to a query on dengue situation, Sakhawat Hossain said that treatment of patients and supply of necessary saline is being ensured following the international protocols of the World Health Organization (WHO).On the other hand doctors have been directed to be more alert by considering the changing nature of dengue and post dengue cardiac complications. In addition Minister emphasized the need to continue awareness and cleanness activities regarding on controlling mosquitoes.
