Control room to be set up at Nagar Bhaban ahead of Durga Puja
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has taken rigorous preparations to ensure the peaceful and smooth celebration of the upcoming SharadiyaDurga Puja and provide civic services around puja mandaps.
The DSCC will set up a control room at Nagar Bhaban three days before the Puja begins and prompt action will be taken based on information received about faulty streetlights, roads, drainage and civic order-related problems in areas adjacent to puja mandaps, said DSCC Administrator Md. Abdus Salam.
He came up with the plans while inaugurating the National Representatives' Conference, Mahalaya celebration and distribution of clothes organised by Bangladesh Sanatan Party at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) in Dhaka on Friday, BSS reports.
The administrator said the initiative aims to support the mandaps and ensure an environment conducive to providing necessary civic services to residents during the religious festivities.
"Instructions have been issued to repair damaged roads around puja mandaps within the next two days to ensure uninterrupted movement of visitors during the festival," he said.
The DSCC also launched special cleanliness drive for the urgent cleaning of drains and sewers near puja mandaps ahead of the festival to maintain cleanliness and waste management properly.
At the time, the Administrator reiterated the commitment to ensure civic amenities for residents of all faiths without any discrimination.
During the event he also informed that financial assistance totaling Tk 19 lakh 80 thousand was provided to 168 puja mandaps under the DSCC ahead of the upcoming Durga Puja and additionally Tk 10 lakh has been allocated separately for the historic Dhakeshwari National Temple.
