AAUB organises training on OBE to strengthen academic excellence

Aviation and Aerospace University, Bangladesh (AAUB), through its Department of Aviation Operation Management (AVOM), organised a day-long training programme titled “Training on Outcome Based Education (OBE): Curriculum, Assessment and Continuous Quality Improvement” at Falcon Hall, Tejgaon, Dhaka on Saturday.

The programme brought together faculty members and academic officials from AAUB’s Dhaka and Lalmonirhat campuses, aiming to strengthen outcome-based teaching, curriculum development, assessment practices and institutional quality assurance in line with national and international higher education standards.

Air Vice Marshal M Mustafizur Rahman, BSP, GUP, nswc, afwc, psc, M.Phil, Vice-Chancellor of AAUB, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Session Chair. Air Commodore Md Rabiul Hasan, afwc, psc, Dean, Faculty of Aerospace Management and Entrepreneurship, delivered the opening speech, while Assistant Professor Dr. Hosnay Nasrin, Chairman, Department of Aviation Operation Management, welcomed the participants.

The training comprised four specialised sessions covering the Bangladesh National Qualifications Framework (BNQF), principles of Outcome-Based Education, curriculum design and alignment, learning outcome mapping and attainment, rubrics-based assessment, and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI). The sessions were conducted by distinguished academic experts, including Professor Dr. Syed Shahrier Rahman, Department of Linguistics and former Additional Director, Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), University of Dhaka; Professor Dr. Mohammad Sarwar Morshed, Department of Mechanical and Production Engineering, Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST); and Associate Professor Dr. Naznin Sultana Chaity, School of Business and Additional Director, IQAC, AUST. 

Through interactive discussions, practical exercises and group activities, participants gained valuable insights into aligning course learning outcomes with programme objectives, developing effective assessment strategies and improving academic quality through systematic evaluation.

In his closing remarks, Vice-Chancellor Air Vice Marshal M Mustafizur Rahman emphasised the importance of implementing Outcome-Based Education across the university to ensure student-centred learning, measurable academic achievements and continuous improvement in teaching and assessment. He highlighted the significance of developing a strong academic quality assurance culture to prepare competent graduates equipped with the knowledge, skills and professional attributes required by the evolving aviation and aerospace sectors.

The programme concluded with the presentation of certificates to participants, souvenir handover and a group photograph. The initiative reflects AAUB’s continued commitment to strengthening faculty competencies, promoting outcome-oriented education and maintaining high academic standards in specialised aviation and aerospace higher education in Bangladesh.
