Attack on Riyadh airport disrupts 8 flights to-and-fro Dhaka

Eight flights to and from Dhaka, set to fly between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia, have so far been disrupted affecting 2,951 passengers, as missile and drone attacks temporarily suspended operations at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, officials said on Sunday.

Civil aviation officials said the affected passengers were set to travel to Saudi Arabia from Bangladesh or the other way around.

They said of the eight flights, two belonged to Biman Bangladesh Airlines, one to US-Bangla Airlines, three to Saudia Airlines and two to Riyadh Airways.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines earlier announced the suspension of its scheduled Dhaka-Riyadh-Dhaka flights, BG339 and BG340, until further notice, asking passengers concerned not to proceed to the airport and rather contact its call centre or nearest sales office for assistance. According to international media reports Yemen's Houthis warned today airlines, travellers and airport workers to stay away ?from Saudi airports, a day after an attack on the aviation facility in Riyadh killed 12 people and wounded more than 300 others.

Saudi Arabia called the attack a "full-fledged war crime" pledging to retaliate "firmly".

The Houthis, however, have not claimed responsibility for the latest strike.
