Several effective initiatives are being implemented under the visionary leadership and directives of the Director General of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Force to promote members’ welfare, improve working conditions, and ensure a comfortable environment for discharging their duties. As part of these ongoing efforts, long-standing problems related to cooking facilities and safe drinking water at the DESCO Ansar Guard under Mirpur Police Station in the West Zone of Dhaka Metropolitan Ansar have been addressed. The initiative has brought relief to members in their daily lives and created a more conducive environment for enhancing their motivation and commitment to duty.
On October 11, acting on the directives of Ansar-VDP Director General Major General Abdul Motaleb Sajjad Mahmud, the Director of Dhaka Metropolitan Ansar and the Zone Commander of the West Zone visited the DESCO Ansar Guard. During the visit, they exchanged views with members on duty and gathered detailed information about various challenges, including accommodation, kitchen facilities, and access to hygienic drinking water. After hearing directly from the members about their practical difficulties, necessary instructions were issued to take appropriate measures to resolve the issues.
Following these directives, a new gas stove with a 35-kilogram-capacity gas cylinder has been provided to ensure adequate cooking facilities for the guard members. In addition, a new electric water filter with a capacity of 60 litres has been installed to ensure access to safe drinking water. These measures mark significant progress in addressing the members’ difficulties in cooking and obtaining safe drinking water. Meanwhile, the process of dividing the guard into two separate units is underway to address accommodation-related challenges.
It is noteworthy that the DESCO Ansar Guard commenced operations on January 1, 2026. It currently has a total of 58 deployed Ansar personnel, comprising two Platoon Commanders, one Assistant Platoon Commander, and 55 Ansar members. They are responsible for ensuring security at eight locations and sub-offices of DESCO Private Company Limited. Considering the scope of their responsibilities and the number of personnel deployed, the initiative to ensure their basic facilities is expected to contribute to a more supportive working environment and improve their ability to carry out security duties effectively.
Expressing their gratitude for the steps taken to resolve their long-standing problems, members of the DESCO Ansar Guard conveyed their sincere appreciation to the Director General. According to the members, the senior leadership’s genuine concern for their welfare and practical challenges brings positive changes to the working environment while strengthening their confidence, motivation, and morale in performing their duties.
Under the visionary, prudent, and member-oriented leadership of the Director General of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Force, initiatives of this nature to improve accommodation, access to hygienic drinking water, and other essential facilities at various Ansar Guards are playing an important role in enhancing the overall operational capacity of the force. By prioritizing members’ welfare, improving working conditions, boosting morale, and ensuring a suitable environment for duty, these efforts are helping to strengthen public safety and the overall security system while accelerating the modernization and positive transformation of the force.
