DU to hold 'Research and Innovation Fair' annually
The Dhaka University (DU) authorities have decided to organize a 'Research and Innovation Fair' every year to strengthen industry-academia ties and push forward research, publication and innovation activities.
The initiative is expected to transform the country's oldest university into a research-oriented institution through research, publications and innovations as well as build quality startups by reinforcing industry-academia relationships, said a DU press release on Tuesday.
The fair will feature paper presentations, booklet and poster exhibitions, experience-sharing sessions, discussions and various interactive programs. Representatives from Dhaka University alongside different industrial enterprises and educational institutions will participate in the event.
A preparatory meeting in this regard was held today at the Vice-Chancellor's conference room with DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (academic) Prof. Dr. Abdus Salam in the chair.
Prof Salam said carrying out education and innovative research aligned with societal needs.
He added researchers must make effective contributions to the sustainable socio-economic development of the nation through timely research, calling upon teachers, researchers and students to work in a coordinated manner to assess social needs and generate and disseminate new knowledge.
Deans of arts, science, law, business studies, social sciences, pharmacy and fine arts faculties and director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) were present at the meeting.
