Chattogram Range DIG takes mega plan to improve law and order

Chattogram Range DIG takes mega plan to improve law and order

Abdul Quddus Chowdhury, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Chattogram Range, has undertaken a mega plan with a view to improving law and order as a wave of change has been visible in 11 districts under the range since his joining.

The key objective of the mega plan taken by DIG QuddusChowdhury is to root out crimes from society. He has adopted, as first step, 'zero tolerance' policy against drug menace. The routes which are used in drug trafficking in coastal and bordering districts in the range have already been identified and intelligence surveillance has been stepped up there.

Strict directives have been conveyed to book the influential culprits who are act behind the scene in drug dealing.

DIG QuddusChowdhury has voiced stern warning saying that if any police personnel is found involved with drugs, he or she no way be spared. Such stance has proved effective in preventing irregularities and grafts inside the force.

The second aspect of the mega plan is to bring police services to the doorsteps of common people by expanding beat policing and people-oriented services. Beat policing has been restructured in every union and ward so that people never face hassles to lodge general diaries and complaints with police stations.

The third aspect of the mega plan is to enhance security on highways and develop traffic system. Optimum emphasis has been laid out to control traffic, plying of illegal vehicles and reduce accidents on different inter-district routes including the Dhaka-Chattogram highway under Chattogram Range. A special highway squad has been formed with a view to bringing discipline on the highway and ensuring smooth plying of goods vehicles. At the same time, raids are being conducted on a regular basis to prevent movement of three-wheelers and illegal autorickshaws on the highway.

The fourth side of DIG QuddusChowdhury's plan is to ensure maximum utilization of technologies and accountability. A modern technology-based online cell has been made effective to monitor overall activities of all police stations under the range, oversee patrol teams' movement and get information about crime-prone areas. Such initiative has ensured effective surveillance in crime hotspots and transparency and accountability of the activities of every unit. As it has now become easier to identify criminals and quality of investigation improved due to modern technologies, there is no scope for culprits to escape after committing criminal acts.

With an aim to materialize the mega plan, a number of operations have successfully been carried out in different districts under Chattogram Range. Huge contraband drugs, foreign and locally-made weapons and smuggled goods have been recovered during simultaneous combining operations in 11 districts under Chattogram Range. Besides, special raids are being conducted to arrest absconding accused.

In recognition of laudable and courageous performance, police members at the field level are being honored with financial awards.

DIG Abdul Quddus Chowdhury said, "Bangladesh Police is not only a force to take legal actions after a crime takes place, police are the friends of people and it is our moral duty to create a congenial atmosphere so that crimes cannot happen in society."

The Chattogram Range has been working sincerely day and night to make an environment where people can live with peace and security, he added.
QuddusChowdhury urged guardians to keep a watchful eye on their children with a view to ensuring their bright and prosperous future.

He made a call to youths to enjoy their lives in a positive way saying no to drugs, dirty culture and criminal acts.
