Bangladeshi singer Ronti Das has won the Best Melody Singer (Female) award at the Dhallywood Awards 2026, held in the United States on Sunday.

Renowned singer Rizia Parvin presented the award to Ronti at the ceremony.

Ronti first came into the spotlight through the popular reality television music competition CloseUp 1 in 2006. Since then, she has established herself as a versatile singer, performing modern, folk and film songs while maintaining her distinctive vocal style.

Now based in New York, Ronti is also working to promote music education through her initiative, Ronti’s Music Kitchen. The proposed institution aims to provide training in classical, Nazrul, Rabindra, patriotic, modern and folk music, as well as specialised voice training. It plans to offer both online and in-person classes.

The initiative will also provide free music lessons to children with special needs.

Ronti has lent her voice to several Bangladeshi films, including Shuvo Bibaho, Khoj: The Search, Kartutwo, The Speed, Ostro Proyog and Bostir Chhele Kotipoti.

Her popular songs include ‘Dekho Amar Khushite’, ‘Hello Brishti’, ‘Hridoy Jekhane’, ‘Rong’, ‘Uralia’, ‘Dakati’, ‘Bahar Bari’, ‘Ekela’ and ‘Obhimani’.
Born in Chattogram, Ronti developed an interest in music during childhood in a family that encouraged her passion for singing. Her father, Subal Kanti Das, was a businessman, while her mother, Lucky Rani Das, worked for a multinational company.

Ronti is married to Said Rahman, a guitarist and singer with the band Nostalgia. The couple have two children, Arshi and Shahbaz.

The latest award adds to Ronti’s musical achievements as she continues to work on new songs and promote Bangladeshi music and culture to international audiences.
