Bangladesh, Afghanistan play out thrilling tie in 2nd Youth ODI

Rubay Islam Rizon struck a fluent 19 ball-33 not out before taking 4-72 as the second youth ODI between Bangladesh and Afghanistan ended in a tie at Al Amerat Stadium in Oman on Monday.

Opting to bat first, Afghanistan compiled a hefty 304-9 but Bangladesh appeared on course to overhaul the target with ease, thanks to its middle order batters.

Afghanistan bowlers clawed back into the contest with some quick wickets toward the end, before Rizon's quick knock gave the game a thrilling end.
Inform opener SK Jarif Siyam was out for 22 after sharing a 70-run opening stand with Abdullah Al Muhi to give Bangladesh a flying start.

Muhi, however, went on to score 45 ball-50 with nine fours before being dismissed.

Alamin Hossain Rony and Ahsan Al Mumin shared 79-run for the third wicket to keep the side on course with the former playing fluently to make the Afghan bowlers disarray.

Amir Hamza broke the dangerous partnership by removing Rony who blasted 71 off 56, a knock laced with eight fours and two sixes.
Soon after Mumin was also out for 56, after completing his second straight half-century in the series.

Noor Ali then triggered a collapse that saw Bangladesh lost three wickets for 26 as the hope for a victory looked to fade away.
Rizon injected life into the game but couldn't sail the side home eventually.

Earlier, Rizon claimed 4-72 while Jarif Siyam ended with a economical figure with 2-34. But Afghanistan rode on Noman Salarzai's 71 and opener Faridullah Ihsas's 51 to post 300 plus total.

Tahir Sarwary was the other notable scorer with 43.
The third game is on Wednesday at the same venue.
