Prime Minister's Defense Adviser Brigadier General (Retd) A.K.M. Shamsul Islam has called for treating aviation safety not merely as an operational expense but as a vital investment in protecting human lives, valuable assets and national progress. He said safe aviation is not only about preventing accidents but also serves as a key foundation for the country's economic growth, international connectivity, passenger confidence and the sustainable development of the aviation sector, according to a press release received from Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

He made these remarks while addressing the closing ceremony of the three-day 8th International Flight Safety Seminar 2026 (IFSS-2026), jointly organized by Bangladesh Air Force and Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon in Dhaka on Wednesday (28 October 2026).

In his address, Brigadier General (Retd) AKM Shamsul Islam placed particular emphasis on the immense potential and future development of Bangladesh's aviation sector. He noted that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, modernization initiatives are underway to upgrade key infrastructure, including airports, terminals and air navigation systems, with the aim of transforming Bangladesh into a major regional  aviation hub.

He emphasized that realizing the benefits of these initiatives requires not only modern infrastructure but also internationally compliant safety systems, skilled human resources and effective coordination among relevant institutions, the press release added.
