The Bangladesh Coast Guard has provided emergency medical assistance to an ailing passenger aboard a passenger launch after receiving a call through its emergency hotline, 16111.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon disclosed the information on Tuesday morning.
He said that on November 3, a passenger who had recently completed medical treatment in Dhaka was travelling to Barishal aboard the Dhaka-Barishal-bound launch MV M Khan-7. When the vessel reached the area adjacent to Lalpur in Chandpur at around 2:00 am, the passenger's physical condition deteriorated.
At that time, the launch supervisor contacted the Coast Guard's emergency hotline, 16111, and requested immediate assistance.
Following the call, a medical team from Coast Guard Station Chandpur promptly reached the launch and provided the sick passenger with necessary medical assistance.
Later, the patient was transported to Chandpur Launch Terminal aboard a Coast Guard boat for advanced medical treatment. Under the supervision of the Coast Guard, the patient was then transferred by a private ambulance to Shyamoli Kidney Hospital.
The Coast Guard remains committed to serving the public and will continue such humanitarian activities in future, the media officer added.
