The closing parade of the Basic Training for Embodied Ansar Members-2026 was successfully held at the Bangladesh Ansar and VDP Academy in Shafipur, Gazipur, with newly trained members pledging to serve the country with honesty, dedication and the highest level of professionalism.
Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud, Director General of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP), attended the ceremony as the chief guest and took the salute of the newly trained Ansar members.
Addressing the gathering after inspecting the parade, the Director General highlighted the significant contribution of embodied Ansar members to protecting the country's economy, industrial establishments and Key Point Installations (KPIs). He also outlined various government initiatives aimed at improving their professional status, facilities and overall welfare.
The Director General said more than 55,000 embodied Ansar members are performing their duties with dedication and professionalism to ensure the security of over 5,000 important government and private institutions, industrial establishments and KPIs across the country.
He added that the force's capacity to respond to disasters and emergencies would be further strengthened through coordinated training and expanded operational activities with the Fire Service and other relevant agencies.
He expressed deep gratitude to Ansar members who had made sacrifices or sustained injuries while protecting public property and important installations in the line of duty.
Highlighting their courage and commitment, he said embodied Ansar members had successfully thwarted criminal activities in different parts of the country, including attempts to carry out robberies at important installations such as the Matarbari Power Plant. Their vigilance, courage and professionalism have enhanced the honour and reputation of the force, he added.
Government Initiatives to Improve Members' Welfare
Referring to various government initiatives to fulfil the long-standing expectations of embodied Ansar members, the Director General said the process of increasing their salaries had reached its final stage.
He noted that the long-awaited rest system had already been abolished. Other initiatives include improving accommodation facilities, introducing opportunities for transfers to members' home divisions, and increasing the quality and quantity of ration supplies.
He added that reforms and welfare initiatives undertaken following the mass uprising of 2024 were being implemented gradually.
The Director General further said that, under the directive of the Honourable Prime Minister, embodied Ansar members had been deployed at every Upazila Health Complex across the country. Their deployment would strengthen security and maintain discipline at grassroots-level healthcare facilities while helping ensure uninterrupted medical services for the public.
He said administrative management was being made more transparent and accountable to ensure that members received their rightful salaries, allowances and other benefits. Strict measures had also been taken to prevent intermediaries from misappropriating members' entitled allowances.
Modernised Training to Address Emerging Security Challenges
Emphasising the importance of professional training, the Director General said the basic training programme had been modernised to equip embodied Ansar members to address contemporary security challenges.
The training covered physical fitness, general and weapons training, weapon handling, security procedures, incident management, emergency response, risk assessment, and relevant laws and regulations.
He said the knowledge and practical experience gained through the programme would play an important role in enhancing the professional capabilities of the members.
Addressing the newly trained personnel, he said they were now proud members of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party. While the identity was a matter of honour, it also carried significant responsibilities and commitments towards the people and the state.
He urged them to apply their newly acquired knowledge in their workplaces and perform their duties with honesty, dedication, discipline, impartiality and humanity.
