Traditional boat race held in Bhairab River


A traditional attractive boat race was held in Bhairab River in the district on Friday afternoon.  Noapara Municipality and private organization S.A.F Industries jointly organized the boat race.

The boat 'Sunderban Tiger' owned by Golam Rabbani of Kaira upazila in Khulna won the first prize while 'Vai Vai Jolpai' owned by Didar Mollah of Terokhada and 'Allah Varosa' owned by Mahbubur Rahman of Terokhada upazila secured the second and third prizes.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Humayun Kabir was present as the chief guest in the prize giving ceremony while Abhaynagar Upazila Nirbahi officer Nasir Uddin Miah, ASP Imran Siddique, former mayor of Noapara Municipality Sarder Waliur Rahman, Rabiul Islam, Noapara-Shankorpasha Model High School's Managing Committee Chairman Shah Farid Jahangir, Boat Race Committee Secretary Maynur Juhur Mukul and managing director of S.A.F Industries Sheikh Momin Uddin were present as special guests.

Mayor of Noapara Municipality Susanto Das presided over the function. The guests distributed prizes among the winners of the boat race.
