Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) of University of Asia Pacific (UAP) has arranged a regional final ICPC titled '2016 ACM-ICPC Asia Dhaka Regional Contest' which begun yesterday at UAP Campus in Dhaka. UGC chairman Professor Abdul Mannan inaugurated the contest as chief guest while Shyam Sunder Sikder, Secretary, ICTD and Qayum Reza Chowdhury, Chairman, Board of Trustees, UAP were also spoke.
Professor Abudul Mannan said, "These students are the asset with the addition of knowledge and for the sake of seeking knowledge, we would provide technical education to them."
Professor Dr Jamilur Reza Choudhury, Vice Chancellor of UAP chaired the contest while Professor MR Kabir delivered the welcome speech.
Professor Dr C J Hwang said, "Success depends on inheritance, hardworking and opportunities. In this case, ICPC is a big gateway to reach the highest peak of success."
There are two rounds of contests, namely Online Preliminary Contest and Onsite Contest. In the previous ACM-ICPC 2015 preliminary contest, 985 teams from 75 institutions took part.
The rising trend reflects the growing interest in the event among young programmers of the country. This year, participation of girls is the highest including a total of 129 teams. Out of them, a total of 125 teams competed for Onsite Contest yesterday.
