High Commissioner to Nigeria calls on President

Newly appointed Bangladesh High Commissioner (HC) to Nigeria Major General Kazi Sharif Kaikobad made a courtesy call on President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban in Dhaka yesterday afternoon.

The President congratulated Kazi Sharif Kaikobad on his appointment as the Bangladesh's first HC to Nigeria, President Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told journalists.

Abdul Hamid said Nigeria is a market of 18 crore people and there is huge scope for Bangladesh to export products such as drugs, readymade garments and leather goods.

He asked the new HC to take efforts to exploit this market opportunity. The President advised him to take effective steps to exchange visit at public-private level between the two countries.

He also asked the new HC to look for scope to export manpower to Nigeria from Bangladesh. Kazi Sharif Kaikobad sought cooperation of the President in discharging his duty in Nigeria. Secretaries concerned to the President were present.
