Mega beach carnival attracts tourists in Kuakata

"The aim was to make the south-eastern sandy beach of Bangladesh familiar as a popular tourist destination both locally and internationally. Government is already working to make Kuakata as an international tourist spot. The problem we had in the master plan to develop Cox's Bazaar, we don't have it in Kuakata. Already we have developed the road system, now we are developing the spot," said Finance minister Abul Mal Abdul Muhid in the inauguration at the Kuakata Mega Beach Carnival 2017.

With the slogan of 'Sun-Fun-Gaan,' this is the first time ever this kind of event has been organized. The festival started with a colorful rally. The rally was attended by ministers, high officials, local government representatives, local people, students and ethnic minorities on January 14 morning.  Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith inaugurated the three-day carnival as the chief guest through releasing balloons. This mega beach carnival offered special entertainment facilities for the tourists such as beach football, beach cricket, volleyball, kite flying, local games, water bike, ATB rides, boat rowing, beach lighting and camp fire. Besides this three-day event, tourists also enjoyed the startling natural beauty of Kuakata, diversified life styles of Rakhaine people, historical water well, ancient boats, Buddhist temple and 100 Gods Temple of Hindu communities. Moreover, adventurous tourism attractions, adventure gear shop, fire camp, BBQ, forest trekking, walking and cycle rally were also there to attract tourists. Closing ceremony of the carnival would be held on the night of January 16.
