Dhaka North City Cor-poration (DNCC) Mayor Annisul Huq yesterday formally reopened the children's amusement park in Shyamoli, formerly known as Shishu Mela, but now rebranded 'DNCC Won-derland". Senior DNCC officials and managing director of the lessee company GM Mostafizur Rahman were present in the function. The park's long run as Shishu Mela ended when it was sealed off by the DNCC for various irregularities last November. Later a committee was formed which recommended reopening the amusement park under a new arrangement with the
lessee.

The new conditions stipulate a lease of just one year, and requires the lessee to pay off Tk 21.85 lakh, including fines, instead of just the dues amounting to Tk 7.28 lakh. It also fixed monthly rent of Tk 1.11 lakh instead of Tk 4027. Despite the spike in costs, the entry free as well as ride prices will remain unchanged, said DNCC's Public Relation Officer Manzur-e-Mawla.  The DNCC had taken the step of sealing off the Shishu Mela premises last November 26, with unpaid rents mounting up from the lessee, who remained in charge of the facility even after expiry of the lease agreement.
