Independence Day celebration at SBMJ

The 'Swasswato Bangla Muktijoddha Jadughar (SBMJ)' has begun celebrations of the Great Independence and National Day -2017 amidhuge enthusiasm here through week-long cultural programs.  Like in the previous years, the SBMJ has been observing the Day at the 'Mukta Mancha' set up on its premises here under management of the Area Headquarters of Rangpur Cantonment. Mayor of Rangpur Alhaj Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu formally inaugurated the celebrations at 'Mukta Mancha' on Monday night as the chief guest.

The celebrations began through lighting candles and rendering National Anthem by students of the Millennium Stars School and College at the inaugural ceremony of the programs, reports BSS.  Mayor Jhantu along with Rangpur Area Commander and General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 66 Infantry Division Major General Md Masud Razzaque and high-ranking military and civil officials also took part in rendering the National Anthem.

Brigade Commander of the 72 Infantry Brigade of Rangpur Cantonment Brigadier General Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah, Rangpur Area Station Commander Brigadier General Kazi Shamim Ahmed, Colonel Admin Colonel EM Azizul Kahhar, were present, among others. Principal of Rangpur Cantonment Public School and College and president of the celebration committee Colonel Nurul Huda presided over the inaugural ceremony.
