'Bangabandhu asked the forming of FF council'

Freedom Fighters Central Command Council Vice Chairman Ismat  Kadir Gama has said Bangabandhu Sheikh   Mujibur  Rahman advised to form the organization with a view to imparting  the spirit of Liberation War to the people from all walks of life for building a prosperous country.

The remarks came up while the valiant freedom fighter Ismat Kadir Gama gave an interview with The Asian Age on Tuesday at his office in the capital city. Gama started his political journey as Assistant Secretary in Chhatra League in East Pakistan and he moved grassroots levels of the country with the message of Banga-bandhu in order to prepare young community for challenges of political crisis. Later, he went to India and was trained in Deradun.  After one and a half months training as freedom fighter of Mujib Bahini, came back to Bangladesh to fight against Pakistani occupation forces and assumed as Mujib Bahini Commander.

During the Liberation War he showed undaunted courage and outstanding spirit by fighting against Pakistani Army in Gopalganj area, especially the fierce fight that occurred at Bhatiapara from November 1 to December 19. A lot of Pakistani forces lost their lives under his command.

Personally he is known to be an introvert in society and considered as a silent hero related to political ideology of Awami  League. Gopalganj is his native district. He is committed to going ahead with the political ideology of Bangabandhu and his daughter Sheikh Hasina in the future.

He has said with a great regret that after the achievement of independence through a horrendous liberation fight, the architect of independent Bangladesh Bangabandhu desperately tried to reconstruct the war-torn country in cooperation with national and international bodies' and initiated innovative policy to encourage freedom fighters in nation-building activities.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has opened a new vista for providing opportunities to the freedom fighters in the hope of strategic option to rejuvenate the ideals of Liberation War in the  mind of new generation to  combat terrorism and communalism, Ismat Kadir Gama has said.

He has also said having been the Chief Patron, the daughter of Bangabandhu , Sheikh Hasina, is used to paying careful attention to the all-out activities initiated by Freedom Fighters Central Command Council for the welfare of the freedom fighters.
