Protesting the murder of central Joint Secretary of Jatiyatabadi Chatra Dal (JCD) Mohammed Nurul Alam Nuru, the Chittagong City, South and North District committees of JCD called a day-long hartal in greater Chittagong including three districts of Chittagong Hill Tracts, Cox's Bazar and Chittagong for Sunday (April 2) next.

Gaji Mohammed Serajullah, president of JCD Chittagong City Committee declared the three days long program from a protest rally Thursday evening held at the Nasimon Bhabon premises including the day long hartal in greater Chittagong including three districts of Chittagong Hill Tracts, Cox's Bazar and Chittagong on Sunday.

Sources said, the Raojan thana police recovered the body of Joint Secretary of JCD Mohammed Nurul Alam Nuru (45) from the bank of river Karnaphuli at Koepara village area in Bagoan union under Raojan upazila Thursday afternoon.

Officer-in-Charge of Raojan thana Mohammed Refayet Ullah said, "Police recovered the body of JCD cadre Nurul Alam Nuru from the bank of river Karnaphuli at Koepara at around 2:30 pm Thursday. He was the accused of two murder cases and two other criminal cases with Raojan thana."

On the other hand, the JCD and BNP leaders alleged that police took Mohammed Nurul Alam Nuru from his city residence of Katalgonj in the port city on March 29 last. Later, after one day of his abduction by police, the Raojan thana police recovered his body from the bank of river Karnaphuli.

The body of the victim Nurul Alam Nuru was sent to morgue Friday. The central leaders of BNP including the Standing Committee members Amir Khashru Mahamud Chowdhury and Najrul Islam Khan, Vice Chairman Gias Uddin Quader Chowdhury and Aman Ullah Aman, Student Affairs Secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anny, Health Affairs Secretary Dr Faoaj Hossain Shuvo, president of Chittagong City BNP Dr Shahaday Hossain, Vice President Abu Sufian and General Secretary Abul Hashem Bakkar, President of Mohila Dal Monwara Begum Moni and VP of CUSU Najim Uddin and other leaders went to the morgue to see the body of Nuru.

Talking with the journalists at the Chittagong Medical College Hospital after coming out from morgue, Standing Committee member Amir Khashru Mahamud Chowdhury said, "Killing of the central JCD leader Nurul Alam Nuru is an extra judicial murder. There is rule of law in Bangladesh now. The government is involved with the state terrorism. We want the judgment of murder of Nurul Alam Nuru."

Talking with the journalists, president of Chittagong City BNP Dr Shahaday Hossain said, "The police took Nuru from his residence. Later, after one day of his abduction by police, the Raojan thana police recovered his body. So, the Chittagong Metropolitan Police have the liability in this connection. We are protesting Nuru murder."

The namaj-e-janaja of Nuru was held at Kajem Ali High School ground after Jumma prayer yesterday. The central leaders of BNP including the Standing Committee members Amir Khashru Mahamud Chowdhury and Najrul Islam Khan, Vice Chairman Gias Uddin Quader Chowdhury and Aman Ullah Aman, Student Affairs Secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anny, Health Affairs Secretary Dr Faoaj Hossain Shuvo, president of Chittagong City BNP Dr Shahaday Hossain, Vice President Abu Sufian and General Secretary Abul Hashem Bakkar were present at the namaj-e-janaja of central JCD leader Nurul Alam Nuru. Later he was buried at the Miskin Shah graveyard.
