Shama Rahman and Samiul Islam Poluck
Indira Gandhi Culture Center (IGCC) will organize a Rabindra Sangeet evening by Shama Rahman and recitation by Samiul Islam Poluck in city's Sufia Kamal Auditorium at 7:00pm on Saturday. Shama Rahman is one of the leading contemporary Rabindra Sangeet singers of Bangladesh. She was trained by late Ustad Fazlul Huq in classical music and subsequently learnt at Chhayanaut and at the Bulbul Academy of Fine Arts in Dhaka under legends such as late Atiqul Islam. She has brought out fourteen albums of Rabindra Sangeet.
On the other hand, Samiul Islam Poluck is a young and rising elocutionist who started reciting from a tender age. He has performed with eminent artistes of India and Bangladesh like Rezwana Choudhury Bannya, Adity Mohsin, Indrani Sen, Bratati Bandapa-ddhay, Manomoy Bhatta-charya and Soumitra Chattopa-dhyay. A solo album of Poluck has been released recently.
