Coastal NGOs Alliance formed a human chain remembering the devastating cyclone of 1991 and demanded immediate reform of Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB).
In the banner of Coastal NGOs Alliance, Mustafa Kamal Akanda of COAST Trust moderated the program and presented the 8-point demand including establishment of permanent embankment in coastal areas and ensuring accountability and transparency of BWDB.
Remembering the cyclone of April 29 in 1991, Shawkat Ali Tutul of COAST Trust observed that people in coastal areas still are not safe.
Referring statistics of people migrating from the coastal belt to the cities, he put forward the natural calamities which take place almost every year.
