Mohiuddin elected FBCCI President

Mohiuddin elected FBCCI President Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin

Former president of Bangladesh Garment Ma-nufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin has been elected president of the Federation of Bang-ladesh Chambers of Com-merce and Industry (FBCCI). Sheikh Fazle Fahim, son of Awami League Presidium member Sheikh  Selim MP, of Gopalganj Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been elected the first vice president while Muntakim Ashraf, son of MP Prof Ali Ashraf elected vice president of FBCCI for the next two years - 2017-2019.

Montakim, who represents Bangladesh Cold Storage Association, played a pivotal role in the  election for the panel. Chief of the election committee Ali Ashraf told journalists on Tuesday that Shafiul was the lone candidate for the president's post, so was Fahim for the senior vice-president post.

"There were eight candidates for the vice-president, but they all withdrew their candidacy and supported Montakim," he added. After being elected uncontested from the chamber group on Sunday, Shafiul's panel got elected in the associations' camp too. The biennial election of the apex trade body was held at its office in the city on Tuesday.
