Early marriage foiled in Habiganj
Bahubal Model Thana police foiled an early marriage at Jangalia village under Bahubal upazila of the district this morning.
The marriage of schoolgirl Tania, 15, daughter of Faruk Miah of the village, was scheduled to be solemnized today.
Officer-in-Charge of Bahubal Thana M Moniruzzaman being informed about the child marriage rushed to the residence of Tania and stopped the early marriage, said UNO Jasim Uddin.
Tania is a student of class ten of a secondary school.
Later, the OC successfully convinced the parents of the bride and the bridegroom to refrain from child marriage. He also briefed them about the bad effects of early marriage.
