Sculptor Syed Abdullah Khalid dies

Sculptor Syed Abdullah Khalid passed away yesterday. He breathed his last on 11:45pm on Saturday at BIRDEM Hospital, said deceased son Syed Abdullah Jahir.

Khalid was 75. He was suffering from diabetics and respiratory problems. Khalid is considered one of the pioneer sculptors of Bangladesh. He is predominantly recognized for his brilliant work 'Aparajeyo Bangla', one of the most iconic sculptures in our country. The sculptor bagged Ekushey Padak this year for his lifetime contributions to arts. A versatile artist, Khalid has not only excelled in sculpture but also made a great impression with his vibrant paintings.
