Salim Osman granted bail over N’ganj teacher humiliation

A court here on Tuesday granted bail to Jatiya Party MP AKM Salim Osman in a case filed for humiliating schoolteacher Shyamol Kanti Bhakta in public in Narayanganj.

Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate Jasmine Ara Begum granted the bail upon a bond of TK 20,000 after hearing on a bail petition filed by Salim’s lawyer Kazi Najibullah Hiru.

The court also fixed July 4 for next hearing.
Earlier, the Narayanganj MP surrendered to the court on May 14.

The court ordered Salim to appear before it on 23 May (today) as he submitted a bail order issued by the High Court on May 8.

On May in 2016, Shyamol Kanti, headmaster of Piyar Sattar Latif High School in Narayanganj, was humiliated and forced to squat holding his ears in the presence of local Jatiya Party MP Salim Osman.

A video clip of the incident went viral on social media network sparking off huge protests across the country.
