Chittagong, 1 Jan- The Book Festival in the schools in Chittagong has added coloure to the first day of the New Year among the students. Thousands of the students of schools got the new books of new classes on the first day of the year. Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Mejbah Uddin distributed the books at Collegiuate School, Dr Khastagir Girls School and other schools. Principal of Bangladesh Women's Association (BWA) Girls School and College Anwara Begum distributed the books among the students of her school. Prof Dr Ifthekhar Uddin Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of Chittagong University (CU) was present at the book distribution ceremony of CU Laboratory School and College as chief guest. Addressing the programme Ifthekhar Uddin Chowdhury said, "The present government is bringing a education revolution by giving free books among all students in schools on the first day of the year." The function was presided over by Prof Fazlul Haque, the principal of CU Laboratory School and College. Among others, Prof Dr Jashim Uddin, Prof Dr Mohammad Kamrul Huda, Prof Dr Rashed Un Nabi, Dr Rowshan Ara addressed the function.
