Lyla Zakeriah Murshed passes away

Lyla Zakeriah Murshed, widow of late Chief Justice SM Murshed and only child of the former Mayor of Calcutta AKM Zakeriah and the late Zerina Khatoon, passed away on 25th May 2017. She was the mother of Shaida Murshed Hoda, Syed Marghub Murshed, Syed Mamnun Murshed and Dr Professor Syed Mansoob Murshed.

She had for a period of 4 decades helped to popularize "Ikebana" (the Japanese style of flower arrangements) and "Bonsai" gardening in Bangladesh. Lyla Murshed as the first President of the first Zonta Club in Bangladesh, was the pioneer of the activities of Zonta International in in our country. She became the youngest president of the Dhaka Ladies Club at the age of 32 in 1957.
