Unknown miscreants on early Sunday allegedly damaged five idols of Ganesh Pagol temple at Ambari village under Bakal union of Agoiljhara upazila in Barisal district.
Monirul Islam, officer in charge of Agoiljhara police station, acknowledging the facts said he and assistant superintendent of police Rezaul Karim visited the spot on Sunday noon. Till this report no case was lodged and police trying to nab accused, the OC told.
Alomoti, caretaker (sebayet) of the temple, said the temple was established by the people of Hindu community more than ten-year ago. On Saturday night yearly feast was held at the temple till 10:00 PM and after ending the festival she went home locking the door of the temple at about 12:00 AM early Sunday.
However after visiting the temple on Sunday morning she found the door of temple was open with broken locks and five idols of Radha-Govinda, Radha-Krishna, Pagol Chan, Hari Chan and Ganesh Pagol were damaged by unknown miscreants, Alomoti told. Then she informed other villagers and they informed police, Alomoti added.
