CHITTAGONG, 2 Jan- The Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) has taken special measures for the security of the students and maintain law and order situation at Chittagong College campus. The CMP has deployed several dozen police personnel at Chittagong College campus on Saturday. The Chittagong College authority closed four gates of the college and only main gate is open. Officer in Charge of Chawkbazar thana said, as per request of the Chittagong College authority additional 55 policemen have been deployed to maintain law and order situation and avoid any unwanted incident. Principal of Chittagong College Prof Jesmin Akhter said, "We requested the CMP for taking step to control law and order situation." Bangladesh Chatra League (BCL) and Islami Chatra Shibir (ICS) activists locked in a clash at Chittagong College over the dispute of offering floral wreaths to the Shaheed Minar at the college campus. At least 10 students were injured in around two hours long clash and 66 were arrested from the spot on the victory day on December 16. Meanwhile, of the arrested 66 persons, only 14 are in jail now while the rests were released following the recommendations and requests by the leaders of Awami League.
