Super shop Swapno fined

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mobile court fined super shop outlet 'Swapno' as they were preserving food at unhygienic freezer. DNCC executive magistrate SM Ojior Rahman fined the shop Tk 1 lakh.

The mobile court conducted the drive at Mohammadpur Shahjahan road outlet yesterday. The magistrate said: "The shop was found preserving fish, meat and fruits in a same box at their cold storage. Rotten fish was found there."

The court also fined another three shops Tk 30,000 at Town Hall market for blotting the prices. In the meantime, Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) in its three anti-adulteration drives yesterday realized Tk 5.70  lakh in fine in Dhaka on charges of violating BSTI rules and the Consumers' Rights Protection Act.
