Ashuganj north unit power station starts production

Ashuganj Combined Cycle (North) Unit Power Station Company in Brahmanbaria has been added 400MW of electricity to the national grid on Sunday night.

The production capacity of the Ashuganj power plant has been increased by 1.500 megawatts through the introduction of this unit. Not only this, the large power unit of the power plant will reduce the power shortage in the country as well as bring a significant role in the national economy.

With the full power from this new unit, the electricity ambulance between the workers and employees of all the power plants and officials is present. According to technical department sources, construction work of 450 MW of Combined Cycle (North) unit started in April 2014 in the Ashuganj Power Station Company's own 10 acres of land. With the help of ADB and IDB's loan assistance, a large unit has been spent on the construction of around Tk 2600 crore.

The construction of this unit, with the help of Tk 250 crore from its own fund of the government and power plants, and the assistance of ADB and IDB with loan of Tk 2,350 crore, has been jointly organized by the company's TSK and TR, two organizations namely Spain. Commissioning started from January this year after finishing construction in the last two and a half years.

At the end of the examination, after about 5 months of examinations, this unit came into production in full power on Sunday morning.

Engineer Nitin Chandra Biswas said, "We are happy to complete the construction of this unit within the stipulated time and produce power in full power." Currently, about 400 megawatt of electricity is being supplied from this unit to the national grid. We are hopeful that this unit will be able to reduce the country's power deficit and play an important role in the national economy. With the help of ADB and ODB loan assistance, the cost of construction of a large unit has been estimated at Tk. 2600 crore.

Managing director of Ashuganj Power Station Company Engineer M M Sazzadur Rahman said that commercial production of 450 MW Combined Cycle (North) unit has started. This unit is currently being supplied to the national grid of 400 MW. Currently, 1500 megawatt of electricity is being produced from the active units of Ashuganj power plant.

As the new unit comes to production, the production capacity of the Ashuganj power plant has exceeded one and a half thousand megawatts. In addition, efforts have been taken to establish another unit of 400 MW with capacity. At present, Ashuganj power plant plays an important role in fulfilling the country's electricity needs.
