Professor Bishwajit Ghosh of Department of Bangla, Dhaka University has been appointed for the post of first Vice Chancellor of Rabindra University at Shahjadpur in Sirajganj district. An order issued by Ministry of Education on Sunday appointed Professor Bishwajit Ghosh as Vice Chancellor of this specialized university for four years.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina laid the foundation stone of Rabindra University at Shahjadpur on 8th May 2016 following the approval of this university by National Parliament in February last year.
Rabindra University will offer academic programs for undergraduate and post graduate courses and research facilities on Rabindranath Tagore's life, philosophy, literature, music, global culture, arts, dance, fine arts, plays, social sciences, agriculture, business administration, law, sciences, engineering, technology and some more subjects.
Rabindra University is being launched as the 35th public university of Bangladesh with financial support from both Bangladesh and India.
