'Barsha Utsab' begins today

A day-long festival titled 'Barsha Utsab 1423' will be celebrated at the Nazrul Mancha of Bangla Academy today, marking the first day of the Bangla month of Ashar. Country's prominent cultural organization Udichi Shilpigosthi will arrange the event to welcome the monsoon. The colorful program will include songs, dance and poetry recitation.

The program will be started at 7am with the rendition of a traditional song 'Allah Megh De, Pani De, Chhaya De Re Tui' by the artistes of Udichi with the traditional instruments like dhol, tabla, dotora, banshi. Then artistes of Bonhisikha and Swapn-obeena will present chorus songs, while prominent singers Mahmud Selim, Chhaya Karmakar, Anima Mukti Gomez, Biman Biswas, Mahadev Ghosh and others will render solo songs.
