Memorial discussion on Dr Shahidullah at DU today

A memorial discussion will be held today to commemorate the life and works of linguist Dr Muhammad Shahidullah, at the Dhaka University hall named after him. Dr Muhammad Shahidullah Hall Alumni Association of DU will arrange the memorial meeting marking his 132nd birth and 48th death anniversary.

Vice Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique will be present as the chief guest while Housing and Public Works Secretary Shahid Ullah Khandoker will attend as special guest. Bangla Academy Director General Prof Shamsuzzaman will present the keynote paper.

Chairman of the Bangla department of DU Prof Dr. Bismadeb Chowdhury and director general of International Mother Language Institute Prof Zinat Imtiaz Ali, among others, are also expected to speak at the discussion.

Meanwhile, the Association members as well as others will place floral wreaths with due respect and solemnity at the campus grave of Shahidullah in the morning.
