Bangladeshi athlete Zahir Rayhan of BKSP reached the semifinal of the World Youth Athletics Championship with a timing of 48 seconds in heat of the 400-metre run in the Kenyan capital city of Nairobi on Wednesday.
Zahir, an athlete from Sherpur District, created the history in country's athletics becoming the first Bangladesh athlete to qualify for the semifinal of any world class global tournament. With this result, Zahir fullfiled his dream to reach semis with his best timing in his favourite event that he pledged earlier before leaving for Kenya.
In the last Asian Championship held in May in Thailand, Zahir covered the distance of 400 metres with a timing of 49.22 seconds.
