After regretting previous comment on Chikungunya outbreak in the capital, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Annisul Huq appeared with cannon-like fogger machine. The mayor led an awareness campaign in city's Mohammadpur area yesterday and he also was found taking part in the anti-mosquito crush program.
"It is possible to put a tight leash on the outbreak trough combined and united effort," Annisul said expressing his sympathy to those who already have been affected with the disease. He said: "The anti-mosquito programs and awareness campaigns have been given boost up three times higher. We vow to control it as soon as possible."
He also appreciated the all-out cooperation of the city dwellers. The mayor appeared at a press conference recently where he held the city dwellers responsible for Chikungunya outbreak and shrugged off the responsibly. After facing waves of criticisms, he apologized the next day.
In the meantime, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon declared to control the mosquito-borne fever by next four weeks. He made the announcement yesterday while addressing a human chain in Old Dhaka.
The program was organized in a bid to create mass awareness about mosquito-borne disease. After urging the DSCC employees to be more sincere about the issue, he took part in a mosquito-crush program in the area.
